Long day care comes to Hurstbridge

October 14, 2014

Families in Hurstbridge will now have access to a modern early learning and care facility with the official opening yesterday of the $4.6 million Hurstbridge Community Hub at Graysharpes Rd in Hurstbridge.

Andrew Giles MP, Federal Member for Scullin, said it was especially pleasing that long day child care was now accessible to Hurstbridge families.

“Families in Hurstbridge will benefit from 50 long day child care places, occasional care and pre-school with maternal and child health, allied health services and family support programs.”

“The early years are critical in early childhood development. This centre will provide a wonderful community resource for Hurstbridge families,” Mr Giles said.

The new Hurstbridge Community Hub received $1.6 million from the former Federal Labor Government.

“This centre took nine years to come to fruition. Special thanks to Rob Mitchell MP and Jenny Macklin MP who were successful in achieving significant investment from the former Federal Labor Government of $1.6 million.”

“The Nillumbik Shire Council has done a terrific job in developing a design for the buildings that reflect the natural environment in and around Hurstbridge.”

“The centre will provide 50 long day childcare places with integrated kindergarten, as well as occasional care. It has a maternal child and health care service, community meeting spaces and community kitchens.
